| Our church is about to go
through major construction that is the most significant event at the
Community Congregational Church, other than the church's inception
and the building of this existing structure. Today we have an
opportunity for growth perhaps unlike any other time in our history.
This is a large step of faith for us
because we are a small church, but it is a necessary step if we are
to fulfill God's call in this community.
To become a "user-friendly"
church, we are planning to expand our facility to accommodate:
- our growing Sunday
School needs
- a growing need to reach out to those physically challenged (by
age or disability)
- our need to update and renovate our current facility
We will be including a Missions
component into our building campaign. A small portion of the
funds raised will be sent to our
sister church in Haiti as Pastor Olistin's church is also
embarking upon a building campaign. In 2 Corinthians 9:7-9,
Paul wrote - "for cheerful givers are the ones God's
prizes. God is able to make it up to you by giving you
everything you need and more, so that there will not only be enough
for your own needs, but plenty left over to give joyfully to
others. It is as the Scriptures say: 'The godly man
gives generously to the poor. His good deeds will be an honor
to him forever'."
For more on the campaign's goals,
please read Roland
Mousseau's speech given to us during a special church meeting on
Jan 26th, 2003.
Capital Campaign
We hired Margery Williams and Carol Darnly to assist us with the
capital campaign. Both Margery and Carol are Stewardship
Associates with the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of
Christ. Margery was also the Gift and Promise Coordinator for
the Mass Conference. Margery
gave a speech during a special church meeting on January 26th.
A goal of this campaign is to bring us
closer to God and the church into a fuller union with Christ.
For, as it is true that a deepening faith leads to more generous
giving, it is also true that more generous giving leads to a deeper
faith.
